一九、戒紙煙

（七月十八日）

吾年來志力之薄弱極矣，即戒紙煙一事，屢戒屢復(fù)為之，真是懦夫無志之為！吾去國以來，雖滴酒不入口，然紙煙之惡影響仍不少。赫氏之書曰：

"I am absolutely determined to transmit undiminished to my posterity this heritage which is mine."（Before Dawn, Act I. p. 52）

記此為座右之銘。自今日始，決不再吸紙煙或煙斗之類。今日之言，墨在紙上，不可漫滅，吾不得自欺。
