“博雅”學科英語系列教程屬于大學英語高階課程教材，供非英語專業(yè)學生使用。一般情況下，學生在完成三個學期的基礎(chǔ)英語課程學習后，在第四學期開始該教程的學習。1.該教程屬于通識英語類教材。通識英語（ELE，即English for Liberal Education）以英語語言為載體，以人類文明、科學、文化發(fā)展為主題，有內(nèi)容、有深度，以拓展學生的知識視野、提升學生的人文素養(yǎng)和批判性思維能力為目的。是一種特殊形式的“專門用途英語”。2.人文素養(yǎng)的提升和思維能力訓(xùn)練是教程編寫的指導(dǎo)思路?！叭宋乃仞B(yǎng)”決定了教程主題雖然與學科相關(guān)，但具體內(nèi)容并非為深奧的專業(yè)知識，而是*近似于本學科的科普類教材。“思維能力訓(xùn)練”則要求練習設(shè)計擺脫傳統(tǒng)語言教材模式，強調(diào)對課文內(nèi)容的反思和知識的運用。3.英語語言能力的提升也是教程的重要教學目標。在該教程中，學科知識的學習和課后練習均通過英語語言實現(xiàn)。從英語教學的角度看，語言知識的輸入采用基于內(nèi)容的教學方法（content-basedinstruction，CBI），語言技能的提高則以輸出任務(wù)為驅(qū)動（output-driven）。因此，英語語言能力在學習完成后必然得到很大程度的提升?！段膶W 真與美的追尋》梳理并呈現(xiàn)文學的起源與定義、文學經(jīng)典的特質(zhì)、文學思潮的劃分、文學大家的生平與貢獻、文學研究的方法與變革、文學論文的寫作等文學素質(zhì)培養(yǎng)的重要方面，使學生全面了解文學學科的本質(zhì)與特征，開啟深入閱讀和研究文學經(jīng)典的興趣，提升文學欣賞和研究的能力。
